#melancholy (2021) used machine learning to process a collection of screenshots of Instagram posts that were coming up under #melancholy, showing prevalence of sublime mostly Nordic landscapes which the general population associates with melancholy. The AI software’s morphing feature was used to create a flowing sequence of generated images.
